Overview

The Head Golf Professional at Five Oaks Golf and Country Club will be an outgoing individual with a passion for the game of golf and customer service. This person will have a desire to have their thumb print on every aspect of our golf operation as well as continue their journey with the PGA. This position will be responsible for assisting the Director of Golf and supervising assistant professionals along with managing and overseeing all elements of the Club's golf-related activities. The individual must have an engaging and warm personality and have an appreciation for customer service at its highest level.

This is the perfect position for a newly elected PGA member, a level two or three associate, or an experienced profession who prefers slower relaxed golf over the packed courses and clubs.

Experience Required

• Female applicants encouraged to apply
• Minimum of two (2) years working in golf industry/private golf club experience preferred
• GolfGenius experience
• Basic knowledge of: daily golf course operations, USGA rules, handicap, course rating system, mechanics and techniques of golf swing, and general game of golf
• PGA Membership or currently enrolled as an associate of the PGA of America
• Must have passed the player ability test for the PGA program and advanced skill in playing golf
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• College degree preferred

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist in displaying golf shop merchandise
• Monitor overall inventory levels of merchandise, restock when needed
• Assist with physical inventories
• Ensure all merchandise is correctly tagged and priced
• Assist in selling merchandise and customer service
• Assist with special orders for merchandise
• Assist in operation of point of sale system to record sales, guest fees, caddie fees
• Record and bill orders accurately into the register system using guest/member card
• Assist in recording of daily sales and rounds played into excel documents
• Learn the names and personally recognize our regular Guests and Members
• Answer any questions guests may have about Five Oaks or the area to the best of one's ability
• Answer incoming telephone calls
• Assist scheduling tee times and answers questions regarding the use of golf facilities
• Assist Director of Golf with guest accommodations
  • Assist Director of Golf in supervision of Outside Service Staff - while emphasizing the importance of member and guest service
• Manage golf cart operation including; ensuring all carts are cleaned, stocked, and charged daily
• Assist in monitoring overall cart maintenance including tire pressure and battery's water level on a weekly basis
• Assist in the training of all Cart Attendant employees
• Assist Director of Golf with all tournament operation needs
• Communicate with staff to inform outside staff and food and beverage staff of tournament needs for practice range, golf carts, food and beverage needs.
• Assist Outside Service staff when needed
• Assist with teaching golf lessons or clinics while improving your skills to teach when needed
• Communicate food and beverage needs with Executive Chef for events when needed
• Maintain timeline for successful completion of Associate Program
• Maintains cleanliness and organization in all work areas
• Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
• Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures
• Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately
• Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
• Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership
