The Delivery Driver- Chauffeur safely operates company vehicles to deliver materials to customers while providing professional and positive customer experience. This role is responsible for timely and accurate deliveries, proper handling and securing of materials, and compliance with all federal, state, and local driving regulations, including DOT and FMCSA requirements. The driver also performs routine vehicle inspections, maintains required logs, and assists with warehouse operations as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate company trucks to deliver materials to customers within the assigned territory.
- Load and unload materials while handling products carefully to prevent damage or loss.
- Ensure all materials are properly secured before transport.
- Complete deliveries accurately and on schedule while maintaining friendly and professional customer experience.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, delivery records, and required documentation.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Monitor vehicle condition including fluid levels, tire pressure, and overall cleanliness.
- Follow all federal, state, and local driving laws and safety regulations.
- Utilize cell phones and hands-free devices appropriately for communication and route coordination.
- Assist warehouse personnel with tasks as needed to support operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong communication skills with a customer-focused attitude.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to identify and resolve routine problems independently.
Education, Experience, and Licenses
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Chauffeur's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Current DOT Medical Certificate or the ability to obtain one.
- Ability to pass operator certification to safely operate powered industrial equipment.
- Previous experience driving a 1-ton truck preferred.
